Poetic Inspiration

Music So Loud It Almost Hurts

I hate those huge gaping
— pauses —
between songs
Those giant silent chasms that open up
when one song is
ending —
and the next song is
— beginning

Sudden quiet
blossoming around you
You hear your echoing footsteps —
step, step, step,
You hear the distant noise of far away crowds
muttering, muffled roaring,
You hear your own thoughts pounding in your head
You hear nothing —
nothing but the inescapable loneliness

You hear nothing but lonely
— until the next song starts to play.
